The beauty that we see within the shape of leaf veins does not exist for our sake. Yet, there is something powerfully attractive about its detail.
I strive to create this power that nature holds, a power often overseen. There are elements in nature that cannot be expressed in a painting. This is why I use water or evaporation as a brush to face the shape of change, striving to fix into place something that cannot be fully contained.
Rather than depicting a subject, it is about fixating an event taking place on the panel. When both myself and the water become still, that is when the piece is complete.
From nature, perhaps we seek more than just a visual interest, like a comfortable rhythm that resonates with our own heart beat. I continue to pursue this question and strive to incorporate nature into my artwork. |
